About City
Amsterdam is the capital city of the Netherlands and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. The city is located in the western part of the country and is known for its beautiful canals, historic buildings, and rich cultural life. Amsterdam began as a small fishing village in the 13th century near the Amstel River. Over time, it grew into an important trading center, especially during the Dutch Golden Age in the 17th century when trade, science, and art flourished in the city. Today, Amsterdam is a modern and diverse city that attracts millions of visitors from all over the world every year.
Amsterdam is often called the Venice of the North because of its large number of canals and bridges. The famous Canal Ring of Amsterdam was built during the 17th century to help with transportation, trade, and water management. These canals are lined with narrow and tall houses that show the unique architecture of the city. Amsterdam is also well known for its museums and art galleries. The Rijksmuseum displays many important works of Dutch art and history, while the Van Gogh Museum contains the largest collection of paintings by the famous artist Vincent van Gogh. These museums make the city an important cultural center in Europe.
Another unique feature of Amsterdam is its strong bicycle culture. Thousands of people use bicycles every day to travel to work, school, or other places because the city has many safe bike paths and flat roads. This makes transportation easy and environmentally friendly. Visitors can also learn about history at the Anne Frank House, where Anne Frank wrote her famous diary while hiding during World War II. In addition to its history, Amsterdam is known for its lively markets, cafes, parks, and festivals that take place throughout the year. With its mix of history, culture, art, and modern lifestyle, Amsterdam remains one of the most interesting and beautiful cities in the world.
With its rich culture, scenic canals, and welcoming international environment, Amsterdam provides an excellent setting for global scientific discussions and collaboration. Therefore, we are pleased to host the 20th International Conference on Obesity Medicine, which will take place on August 24–25, 2026 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The theme of the conference is Innovations and Advances in Obesity Prevention and Treatment Strategies, bringing together experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals from around the world to share knowledge and explore new solutions in obesity medicine.
